Steven Norris, the Former Transport Minister. Norris announces that "dreadfull human"
beings use public transport (10th February 1995). Steven Norris, the former transport minister, has become the second Tory prospect for the post of London mayor to face demands to appear in front of the party's ethics committee. Dr Adrian Rogers, the director of the Conservative Family Institute, said: "I think Mr Norris would be most unsuitable as a candidate for such an important post as Mayor of London. Serial adulterers like him cannot be trusted. I think the failure of the Tory Party to recognise that people's private behaviour is as important as their public behaviour is one of the reasons we lost the last election. Mr Norris, who juggled no fewer than five mistresses in addition to a long-suffering wife during his time in Westminster, stepped down as an MP at the last election to take up a lucrative job in the private sector. He later suggested that his behaviour was acceptable because he never conducted more than one affair at a time. |
